MEET SPROUT
Sprout is the educational mascot of the National Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils, created to inspire curiosity, conservation awareness, and a love of learning in young audiences.
Through stories, activities, books, and hands on experiences, Sprout helps connect children to the natural world while encouraging environmental stewardship and community engagement.
Whether exploring pollinators, gardens, forests, soil, water, or wildlife, Sprout makes conservation approachable, fun, and engaging for learners of all ages!
Growing Literacy Through Conservation
RC&D Reads is a virtual book club designed to foster a love of reading while inspiring curiosity about nature, conservation, agriculture, and the environment.
Each month, readers will explore a new theme through carefully selected books, hands on activities, read alongs, and educational resources. From learning how plants grow to discovering the important role pollinators play in our ecosystems, RC&D Reads helps young learners connect what they read to the world around them.

Sprout Book Series Coming Soon!
Sprout, a character created by NARCDC intern Ella Parris, is bringing the message of conservation to students and future generations in a fun, engaging way. We believe in empowering young people to inspire their peers and foster a love for environmental stewardship. Soon, we’ll be launching the first book in a new series featuring Sprout, highlighting conservation practices and careers, and showing how everyone can contribute to protecting our natural resources.
